Creative Critical Reflection

  1. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups and issues.     A: My product uses conventions because in the majority of pen commercials or specifically Inkjoy commercials they always include the drying time like "our pens dry three times faster than the other competitors" or " our pens dry fast to prevent smears." They always compare with other brands as well to show why you should buy there. In my group and I commercial, we used some of those conventions to promote that the brand is smear-proof. We also showed how the pen kept getting stolen and are the most stolen out of the other brands. Also, most commercials use conventions that involve upbeat music to make their product look good or useful while the person is using it. In our commercial, my team and I used upbeat music to make the product look better and added more style to the commercial. It represents social groups like kids in high school or those that work

Ink Joy Commercial

I really enjoyed making this video. What made it better were the people I worked with. I worked with a great group of girls who made the process that was sometimes stressful fun. I really enjoyed finding props and planning out each set and shot. Being able to do each shot till we liked it and do each angle differently and find the best one was interesting. While filming one of our school staff saw us and wanted to be a part of it which was cool. While filming the scenes the staff member also got involved with the filming process and gave his critiques and opinions which was fun since we had extra help. When my team and I began editing it was fun because we were able to call each other and talk and discuss what we wanted to do with each other. I really liked this because I never really was involved with a group like this so the involvement was nice. The experience was nice and I couldn't have asked for a better group.

Editing blog: Second day

Image
For today my group and I started cutting down each shot add making them into a 30-second video. I wasn't here and class so I kept in touch with my group about what they were doing. I know they cut the video down to about 37 seconds but it's not where we need it to be. Later on in the day, my teammate said her brother found a good editing app that is free and works well. The name of the app is called CapCut. This app allows us to add sound, adjust the quality, add effects, and add text to it. With it being free it also doesn't add a watermark to end the video. I texted the group chat to send the video they had edited to see where it was at. After looking at it a few times it still wasn't running smooth. So I texted them what needed to be done and what their thoughts were. After that, I got hungry and decided to make myself some food. I took a small break and watched my show then I started to edit. I downloaded the app and began to adjust clips. My group thought tha

Editing Blog

Today my group and I starting editing our commercial. I started off by connecting my computer to the school wifi, it took a minute because I had to figure out the login information. Once I connected I began to look on google to find a good editing app for our group to use. After looking my connection dropped so it stopped me in the process of finding an app. The same thing happened with my teammate while she was looking. Afterward, my teammates and I began to brainstorm on how we were going to set up our clips. We wanted it to run smoothly and not look choppy. We continued talking for a few minutes about how we were going to set up the shots. (8)After discussion one of my teammates sent all 87 shots to the group chat we have. The videos took quite a while to load in so I waited. After about 5 minutes only a few videos loaded and I was able to watch them with my group and discuss which ones we were keeping. We continued to look at each of the 87 videos off of one phone and go thr

Filming Blog: Senior patio

Today I went out with my group to began day two of shooting. The second I walked outside I could feel the sun beating on me. my teammates also felt how hot it was. I went down the stairs and proceeded to walk to the bathroom to change. I walked in and changed really quick because we didn't have that much time today. After I was done changing I walked to the senior patio and saw my teammates setting up the shot and discussing what we need to do. When I went to the table we started talking about how we needed to reshoot the shot from the last day of filming. I ran into a problem with my team though. One of my teammates didn't have the same outfit on as last time so instead, we had to redo the whole shot. After we came to that conclusion my team and I had to find a grey jacket to use so we didn't have to redo the shot. This would save us so much time. I realized one of our teammates had a grey jacket on but she didn't want to take it off because she didn't have a shir

Filming Blog: Auditorium Stairs

Image
On October, 5th my group and I started filming our commercial. We started off by walking around each of the stairs around campus to find the perfect one. After looking we found out that the stairs by the auditorium were the best to use, to capture what we wanted.  We realized we needed someone to be in the back as an extra because we didn't have enough people. We wanted it to look as natural as possible. Once we found another extra for the back we began to set up how we were going to set up the shot. We had our storyboard in front for guidance, but we still needed to play around with different angles. After we found the perfect angle we began to shot multiple takes of the first scene to get the perfect shot. While we were doing this we spotted a big iguana that was right above us. It frightened me at first because I felt as if it may land on my head. This iguana did cause a tiny setback because we weren't prepared to see it. Once the iguana ran away we began to shoot, we added
